Why An Inverness B&B Is Better Than A Hotel

If you are planning to visit Inverness but are unsure what accommodation to book you’ll find that there is a huge choice ranging from one room bed and breakfast Inverness to large chain hotels. Many people think of B&Bs as being rooms in someone’s house being rented out on a casual basis to earn a few extra pennies. Frequently the perception is that the B&B will be run by an older person and the inside will be chintzy and old fashioned. There are still many of this type of B&B and there are customers who appreciate the traditional offering however the bed and breakfast sector has moved on leaps and bounds in recent years as guests expectations have increased.

Many B&Bs have been bought as part of a lifestyle change and the owners run them on a more professional basis and have huge drive as they want their new business venture to succeed. In Inverness there are around 35 hotels and over 160 bed and breakfasts so competition is fierce. Facilities on offer in B&Bs now included as par for the course are things like free wifi which many hotels still charge for. Décor and styling in B&Bs is also generally better as it is easier for a B&B owner to redecorate a few rooms rather than the costly task presented to the Inverness hotels who might feel the need to upgrade.

Another area where B&Bs tend to excel is breakfast as they have fewer guests and less wastage so they can purchase better quality produce. Some of the Inverness hotels do also have first class restaurants so there breakfast is also very good but the chain hotels are restricted as they cater more for the masses.

B&Bs also offer a more personal service to customers as it is generally the owners that are presenting themselves rather than a probably not particularly well paid staff member. Accordingly guests get to find out the best places to visit and where to enjoy a good meal and so on. Inverness is centrally located in the Highlands of Scotland and is visited by travellers from around the world. Many Americans, Canadians, Australians and other nationalities have roots in Scotland and visit each year to discover the beauty and history of their ancestral land. Relaxing over breakfast in and comfortable Inverness bed and breakfast they can chat away with the owners an opportunity that is unlikely to present itself in any of the Inverness hotels.

It’s quite easy to find a great bed and breakfast Inverness and a good starting point is TripAdvisor who currently has 190 B&Bs and guest houses listed. Any of these in the top 30 are fairly much guaranteed to provide excellent accommodation and service. Another good place to look is the Inverness Guest House Association website. They have around 20 guest houses and B&Bs being offered all of which have AA or Tourist Board star ratings of three, 4 or 5 stars. Book a B&B and have a memorable time in Inverness and the Highlands.
